I've decided to have a Clearance Sale on several of my jewelry items. All are beautiful pieces, but have either been in my inventory too long, or are no longer typical of the style jewelry I now create. Check out the sale items here for some great prices on beautiful jewelry!
What's New!

Hi Sandy
ReplyDeleteI love your soldered jewellery but I have to also say that this bracelet has always been one of my favourites with the riveting and the mixed metals. I'm sure it will find an owner. I'd like to have a go at riveting (learning a new technique might help me out of this mojo-less period) - can you recommend any books to me that might help me?
Kristin :)
Hi Kristin! I've always loved this design, too. I've made about 10 of them and only have this one left. It's too large for my wrist, so I may as well get it sold.
ReplyDeleteI think trying something new would be a great way to get back into the swing of things! I learned to rivet in a class taught by Tracy Stanley of Wiredarts.net here in the states, but there are many youtube demo's (some better than others) out there. Here is one example of a tube rivet demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evM6vdCwC7w&feature=related.
There are several types of rivets you can use for jewelry and different situations call for different types of rivets. One of my favorite books for jewelry making directions is "The Complete Metalsmith" by Tim McCreight. He clearly shows how to make tube tivets, wire rivets, ball head rivets and others in this book. I would recommend it for anyone doing metalsmithing work. It's my jeweler's bench bible! Give it a try...
Thank you Sandy for such detailed advice. I will certainly watch that demo and seek out that book. Amazon... here I come!
ReplyDeleteAll the best to you.
Kristin :)
